Abstract: The grey relational analysis (GRA) and stepwise discriminant analysis (SDA) for water source identification of mine water inrush are selected to be basic models. The advantages and disadvantages of both models are analyzed as well as the problems of one applied alone, and the idea of coupled identification is proposed to build GRA-SDA coupled model. Six sets of ions (Na++K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, SO42-, HCO3-) and total dissolved solid (TDS) are selected from the sample data of a mining area as discriminant factors for model verification. The analysis shows that the identified results meet the actual situation very well; and the coupled model enhances the identified accuracy efficiently compared with applying one analysis method alone.
