Abstract: There are hundreds of soil model, but there are no model which can describe the true features of soil because soil is too complex. In order to describe all the characters of soil, we have to join lots of model parameters. However, too many model parameters of soil make the model can not be used in practice. From engineering practice, the best model is that its form including to obtain the parameters is simple, but it can describe the concerning problems. Based on the relationship of e-p curve and e-lgp curve, a simplified calculation method of oedometric modulus of soil is established. And Poisson ratios of different kinds of soils are assumed different constant values. So a simplified soil model, which can describe the settlement and the vertical stress accurately, is presented. The calculated results of engineering case show the rationality of the method.

Key words: e-p curve, e-lgp curve, oedometric modulus
