Abstract: In the construction process of Huayingshan highway tunnel, the geological circumstances are complex because of the main engineering geological problems met, such as karst, fault, sudden water inflow, coal and gas and so on. The successful experiences of cutting through coal seam in the right tunnel and the construction technology through the coal seam are summed up; these experiences can be used for safely cutting through coal seam in the big tunnel cross-section.

Key words: gas tunnel, cut through coal seam, coal and gas outburst
