Study on blast-induced damage zone for excavation of diversion tunnel at right bank of Longtan Hydroelectric Project

Abstract: Depending on the method based on the stress wave theory to calculate the peak particle velocity(PPV) induced by blasting,an equation to calculate the blast-induced damage zone in rockmass is educed. In accordance with the PPV criteria for blast-induced damage, the blast-induced damage zone is calculated for the blasting excavation of the diversion tunnel at the right bank of Longtan Hydroelectric Project. Analysis and comparison between results of the calculated and measured blast-induced damage zone with method of sonic measurement are presented.
