Stress and displacement fields around a pressure tunnel in transversely isotropic soil

Abstract: Based on Biot’s theory of consolidation, an analytical solution of stress, displacement and pore pressure induced by time-dependent axisymmetric load or fluid pressure applied on the boundary of tunnel in a transversely isotropic soil is obtained in the Laplace transform domain by uncoupling the governing equations, in which the soil is assumed to be poroelastic material with compressible constituent. By numerically inverse Laplace transform, the results in time domain are obtained and used to discuss the influence of instantaneous loading, one step loading, and cyclic loading, and transversely isotropic property of soil on the stress, displacement and pore pressure fields.
