Numerical simulation of deformation of expansive soil roadbed

Abstract: Based on the consolidation theory of unsaturated soils, the numerical simulation of deformation of expansive soil roadbed under the condition of rain infiltration is made. The development of plastic zone is studied. The results show that the shallow slide of expansive roadbed generally happens; and its instability cause is different from ones of common saturated soils.
