Damage and Cracks Propagation in Brittle Rock
Wang Jinglong; Lin Zhuoying; Wu Yushan; Yuan Jianxin;
. 1990, 11 (3):  1-8.
Abstract ( 127 )   PDF (420KB) ( 224 )
The initiation and propagation of all kinds of micro-fissures in rock results in the weakness of physical-mechanical properties of rock, which is the effect of damage to rock. The pseudo-damage variable ( ,) is defined according to the effect of fissure propagation to marble during Its rupture process. The relationships between stress and strain, and between damage factors D and D are derived. The results of damage testing is well tallied with theory results.

A single-point-constrained Method for Coupling Problem with Beam and Block Elements
Zheng Hong Ge Xiurun Gu Xianrong
. 1990, 11 (3):  9-16.
Abstract ( 231 )   PDF (373KB) ( 171 )
A new method of coupling problem with beam and block elements is developed, through single-point-constrained equations. This method seems more effective and accurate than other methods to deal with the coupling problem of different dimensional elements.

Stability Evaluation on Superhigh Slope Behind Powerhouse of Geheyan Hydroelectric Station, Qingjiang River
Xu Yibao
. 1990, 11 (3):  27-38.
Abstract ( 155 )   PDF (722KB) ( 130 )
The stability evaluation on superhigh slope behind the powerhouse of Geheyan hydroelectric station over Qingjiang River is made in this paper. Engineering geological condition, new tectonic movement, and deformation observation results for the slope are analyzed. Natural angles, stable angles, and design angles of the slope are compared with each other. Limit equilibrium analysis and finite element method are used for the stability evaluation of this slope. The engineering prevention and cure of landslip hazards are also proposed in this paper.

Effect of Powerful Ramming to Foundation of Expansive Soil
Tan Luorong
. 1990, 11 (3):  39-46.
Abstract ( 277 )   PDF (463KB) ( 233 )
The effect of powerful ramming to foundation of expansive soil is studied in this paper. The engineering geological conditions and expansion and shrinkage properties before and after ramming are compared. The relationship between these differences and the mineral composition of soil is discussed. The results of study show that after ramming the expansion level and expansion pressure are increased, but the expansion and shrinkage rates decreased within the extent of certain depth under different pressure.

Response of Second-order Linear System with Single Freedom Degree to Different Input Functions( or Practical Waveforms )
Lin Jiqing
. 1990, 11 (3):  47-54.
Abstract ( 162 )   PDF (394KB) ( 168 )
The response problem of second-order linear system with single freedom degree is solved by positive and inverse Fourier transform and dynamic waveform inversion method. Several expressions of tipicel waveforms and a measured practical waveform are calculated, and the results are satisfying.

Acousto-elastic Wave Testing and Analysis of Essential Mechanical Properties for Concrete Material
Qiu Yiping ;Fu Bo; He Huaijian; Tang Renming; Liu Aiping;
. 1990, 11 (3):  63-70.
Abstract ( 228 )   PDF (483KB) ( 198 )
Acousto-elastic wave tests and uniaxial ones are conducted for cylindrical concrete samples with different grading. The relationship between uniaxial compressive strength and the velocity of longitudinal wave of concrete material with different grading is found through laboratory testing. It is also found that the amplitude attenuation of elastic wave in concrete sample is dependent on the sizes and densities of concrete material.
