Effects of Initial Stresses in Tailored Pulse Loading Method
Wang Jingtao; Lin Jiqing; Sun Shangxin ;Dong Chengquan;
. 1988, 9 (3):  1-10.
Abstract ( 244 )   PDF (2546KB) ( 213 )
Based on the mechanism study of new well stimulation method—tailored pulse loading method, the effects of initial stresses in this method is further studied. The effects of initial stresses on the propagation velocities and directions of the cracks around a hole, especially on the energy dissipation in crack extension, are obtained through theoretical analysis, dynamic photo elasticity tests, high speed photography. And large coal specimen tests. These results provide a theoretical foundation for the practical applications of the tailored pulse loading method.

Three-dimensional FEM Analysis and Back Analysis for Deformation Monitoring of Ertan Hydropower Station Chambers
Zhu Weishen; Wang Kejun; Zhu Jiaqiao; Dai Guangyi ;Zhu Zuoduo;
. 1988, 9 (3):  11-21.
Abstract ( 267 )   PDF (689KB) ( 251 )
Three-dimensional continuous field of initial stresses in Ertan site is determined with stress function approaching the date of a number of measurement points. Then a 3-d FEM analysis of a set of powerhouses with three large chambers is made, and the distribution of failure region, low and high stress areas in rock masses are obtained, which is compared with the results of 2-d FEM analysis. The results from 2-d analysis are not always more conservative than that from 3-d analysis, because the tension failure region from 3-d analysis is larger than that from 2-d analysis. A method to determine approximately failure area of jointed rock masses is also proposed in this paper. In addition, deformation monitoring of a testing chamber in site and its back analysis are presented. This back analysis demonstrates well the measurement results of mechanics parameters and initial stresses.

Horizontal Displacement Monitoring of Soil Sidewalls of Beijing Subway
Li Xiaochun; Xu Dongjun
. 1988, 9 (3):  23-28.
Abstract ( 297 )   PDF (379KB) ( 319 )
The horizontal displacements are monitored during excavation procedure in the sidewalls of Fuxingmen Station, a returning tunnel of Beijing Subway buried in soil media. Based on these results with those obtained from other engineering projects, the characteristics of horizontal displacement are analyzed in shallow soil tunnels during grouting and excavation procedure of the tunnels. The usage of inclinometer for construction monitoring is studied primarily, and a new underground construction method in soil media, i.e., grouting prior to NATM construction is assessed.

Estimation of Quality of Gravel Backing Rolling-compacting with Plate-loading Tests and Its Application to Construction of Nuclear Power Station
Jian Chanwei; Liu Shaojun ;Maouan ;Chen Shouyi
. 1988, 9 (3):  29-40.
Abstract ( 288 )   PDF (700KB) ( 326 )
Based on the in-situ backfill rolling-compacting tests of the foundation of accessary buildings in Guangdong Nuclear Power Station, the mechanism of gravel backfill rolling-compaction is investigated. The principle, method and effects of estimation for the quality of gravel backfill rolling-compacting with plate-loading tests are described. A backfill rolling-compacting method is presented, and the factors influencing the quality of rolling-compacting are studied, which is useful and can be reference for the construction of high earth-rock fill dams.

Research on Relationship between Elastic and Plastic Deformation of Material
Li You Chen; Zhida Zhu ;Weishen;
. 1988, 9 (3):  41-50.
Abstract ( 663 )   PDF (512KB) ( 794 )
Based on a lot of experiment results, it is put forward that the elastic part and plastic part of deformation of general metal material, and isotropic homogeneous, and continuous rock material follow a law—the relative law of elastic and plastic deformation. The law results from testing study and is partly proved theoretically.

Seepage and Deformation of Fissured Rock Mass
Liang Yaochi
. 1988, 9 (3):  51-56.
Abstract ( 213 )   PDF (336KB) ( 260 )
Seepage law of fissured rock masses is presented in this paper. The Navier-stokes equation is demonstrated available to describe seepage law of rock masses by testing study. The dynamical seepage pressure in rock masses makes great effect on deformation of rock masses, results in opining of fissure and deformation of rock masses. The seepage and deformation of rock mass and dynamical seepage pressure is studied. The experimental results are checked with Bossiness formula, and are closed to the computing data.

FEM Data Generator
Wang Kejun
. 1988, 9 (3):  57-67.
Abstract ( 244 )   PDF (675KB) ( 343 )
The FEM data generator presented in this paper is used to generate quasi-automatically or automatically the basic data for 3-d or 2-d finite element analysis of engineering projects, such as element nodal connections, material parameters, nodal coordinates, restrained boundary conditions, and the information of applied load. With the symbol-identified input data system and the concept of interpolation function of isoperimetric element, this data generator deals with regular meshes, irregular meshes, and their arbitrary combination in unified routine and the same way to input data, which is available to any kind of elements and convenient to users. The work principle of this data generator and the features of corresponding computer routines are described in detail.

Development of Soil Strain Gage Instrumentation
He Shousheng
. 1988, 9 (3):  69-74.
Abstract ( 252 )   PDF (317KB) ( 294 )
A brief review of the errors from mechanical mismatch of ‘Spool Gage’ commonly used in field soil strain measurement is made. The behavior of a unique contactless magnetic coil gage is analyzed, which is relatively free from mechanical mismatch effects. The structure and main specifications of the instrument designed for the measurements of both static and dynamic strain in soil are presented here.
