Abstract: The effect of powerful ramming to foundation of expansive soil is studied in this paper. The engineering geological conditions and expansion and shrinkage properties before and after ramming are compared. The relationship between these differences and the mineral composition of soil is discussed. The results of study show that after ramming the expansion level and expansion pressure are increased, but the expansion and shrinkage rates decreased within the extent of certain depth under different pressure.
