Abstract: A rock dynamic triaxial machine with high pressure is developed for the needs of Defence Engineering, Explosive Engineering, Scismic Engineering, and the work related to high pressure and high rate condition. The machine can be used to study the stress-strain relation of rock or other materials under dynamic and static triaxial condition. High pressure and fast loading rate are the features of this experimental machine. Rock testing study can be done with this machine under the conditions of confined pressure from zero to 1000 MPa and axial pressure from zero to 4000 MPa. The loading time from zero to peak takes only 4-9 ms. The strain rate can reach 10° 1/sec. The main parts of the triaxial experimental machine, the principles of dynamic loading, and the measurement under high liquid pressure, etc. are described in this paper. In addition, the test results of the stress-strain relation, strength, deformation, the effects of strain rate, etc. obtained with this machine are presented, too. This machine fills in the gaps of dynamic high pressure machine in China.
