Research on stress and settlement of composite ground with soft base slab

Abstract: The stress distributions in soil under composite foundation with soft base slab and stiff base slab are very different .The methods of stress and settlement used frequently are based on the composite foundation with stiff base slab. The results of these methods are not fit with the actual. Using Mindlin solution and Boussinesq solution, the additional stress and settlement are acquired. Using Vesic theory, the earth-arc effect on pile top are acquired. Compared with the test results, the stress and settlement are best agreement with it.
