Abstract: The CT real time testing on meso-damage propagation mechanism of cracked-sandstone containing one crack under uniaxial compression loading using the CT loading system application in rock and soil media has been accomplished. The CT images, CT number and variance of CT number in different stages such as crack birthing, developing, macro-crack birthing and sample failure are contained. Comparison to the noncracked-rock sample, it shows that the pre-crack can seriously affect the location of new crack birthing and the formation of connectivity macro-crack. Because of the pre-cracked existing, the volume expansion values of the cracked-rock sample under uniaxial compression are large than the noncracked-rock sample.

Key words: cracked-rock, damage propagation, CT testing
