Numerical analysis of construction method of Jiuhua Mountain twin-arch tunnel in Nanjing

Abstract: The process of construction of Jiuhua Mountain Twin-Arch Tunnel has been simulated with the FEM program. Two excavation methods are simulated; and the stress state and displacement of the surrounding rock during each period of construction are obtained by 2D calculation. The solution that the, three-pilot-tunnel excavation method is better, is obtained by contrasting and analyzing. This analysis provides scientific basis and technical guidance for the construction of Jiuhua Mountain Twin-Arch Tunnel.
