Physical modeling of deformation properties for soft rock slope under excavation

Abstract: The excavation, the creep of soft rock and rainfall are the main reasons for the failure of the soft rock slope. The deformation and stability of soft rock slope under excavation and rainfall, as well as the effect of the supporting system on slope deformation are analyzed by physical modeling. It is suggested that the immediate supports are necessary to decrease the deformation of slope under excavation. Meanwhile, the supporting system can effectively restrict the creep deformation of soft rock slope, especially for the areas of the middle and bottom of the slope.
