Abstract: On the basis of analyzing the characteristics of geological plane maps, the notion of the wire frame model illustrated by outline of geological blocks is proposed to describe the geometrical form of complex faults and the relationships among them. The boundary representational validity conditions are modified to fit the wire frame model. The approach how to construct the wire frame availably is illustrated in detail from the viewpoint of the relationships among strata and faults. With the help of the notion of the wire frame model, a new approach that modeling fault integrally in 3-dimension is proposed, in which the complex fault surface and intersected strata controlled by faults can be simulated.

Key words: geological plane maps, wire frame model, 3D modeling on complex fault
