Abstract: Using a typical construction project as an example, a general analysis and comparison are executed to the influence upon the determination of the bearing capacity of rock foundation from the laboratory test and in-situ loading test of rock. A conclusion is drawn that the measurement with data from the result of laboratory test of rock is lower than the data from experience, while applying the result of in-situ loading test of rock to measure the bearing capacity is more scientific and reasonable. According to in-situ loading test of rock, determinating the bearing capacity and modulus of deformation of the rock ,and then calculating the settlement of the building with obtained modulus of deformation, the result shows that it is very consistent with the observations.

Key words: complicated geological condition, bearing capacity of the foundation, in-situ loading test, high building
