Application of undisturbed soil tangent modulus method for computing nonlinear settlement of soil foundation

Abstract: Based on the in-site plate loading curve, the undisturbed soil tangent modulus of soil can be computed based on its stress level; then the foundation settlement can be computed by using undisturbed soil tangent modulus in the layerwise summation method. This method takes the nonlinearity and original state of soil into consideration, and can be used to different kinds of loading curves and in the large scale. it can also overcome the shortcomings of the original tangent modulus method which supposes the loading curve to be a hyperbola. The validity of the method is also proved by the in-site loading test and engineering practic
