Discussion on modification of e-lg p method in settlement calculation of expressway

Abstract: Based on the existing soil engineering test data of many expressways, and through a lot of nonlinear finite element method calculations, a general settlement modification formula associated with filled height of embankment and soil compressive coefficient of roadbed, is put forward. This formula can cause the unilateral e-lg p method results to consider soil lateral deformation and validated by two engineering examples. The results show that the settlements modified by this formula have less errors, it is not only more reasonable than criterion method but also more closed to the measured data. In a way, this method can be used for reference in other engineering.
