Abstract: According to the natures of embankment fill of Huaiho River Waterway to sea, filtration erosion tests were performed on embankment fill. Based on the results of tests, the impervious property and the kind of filtration erosion of embankment fill are then discussed. The construction control measures, construction quality requirement and anti-seepage measures are also discussed.

Key words: embankment fill, impervious properties, filtration erosion test, critical gradient
