Preliminary Research into Stress-Strain and Strength Properties of Marine Soils in a Sea Area
Shu Zhiqin
. 1987, 8 (4):  1-10.
Abstract ( 221 )   PDF (522KB) ( 221 )
The stress-strain and strength properties of marine soils in a sea area in China, with typical results of triaxial shear test, simple shear rheological test, and consolidation test are presented in this paper. Trianxial test shows that the constitutive relationship of this kind of soil is consistent with Duncal-Chang’s theory, the relation between pore pressure parameters B and Af is found. The stress-strain relationship keeping with power function is obtained from consolidation test and the simple shear rheological test. In addition, preliminary analyses of the path dependent property and the modulus of elasticity of this kind of soil are carried out, which provides valuable material for further research on marine soils.

Fracture Properies of Granite at High Temperature
Zhang Jinghua; Wang Jigtao ;Zhao Aiguo;
. 1987, 8 (4):  11-16.
Abstract ( 413 )   PDF (824KB) ( 248 )
The testing study of three-point bending uniaxial compression of granite with the temperature from room one to 300℃ is presented in this paper. The fracture toughness Klc, uniaxial compression strength fp, and elastic moduli of granite varying with temperature and temperature rate are given, which shows the maximum fracture toughness of granite is given at 150℃, about 1.14 times of that at room temperature, although the uniaxial compression strength decreases as the temperature increases. The effect pf temperature on fracture process of granite is interpreted with the help of observation from electron and optical microscopes.

The Testing Study of P-V Relation for Sandstone and Engineering Plastics under High Pressure
Zhang Jie ;Wang Wulin
. 1987, 8 (4):  17-23.
Abstract ( 230 )   PDF (903KB) ( 206 )
The volumetric strain observation of sandstone and plastics under quasi-hydrostatic pressure with 0-3.72GPa is presented in the paper. There are two ways of transmitting pressure, liquid and solid ones. The observes data with low pressure from solid transmitting way are checked by that from liquid one, which leads correct results. The effect of friction of transmitting medium on inner pressure in solid transmitting test is discussed in detail, and the extent of error is given. With analyzing experiment results, the option standard of transmitting medium for the test of solid transmitting pressure is obtained.

Hollow Inclusion Strainmeter
Bai Shiwei; Fang Zhaoru
. 1987, 8 (4):  31-36.
Abstract ( 222 )   PDF (333KB) ( 216 )
Hollow inclusion strainmeter, a new stress-measuring equipment of rock mass in situ, is presented in this paper. The design philosophy, work principle and the method of calculation are explained in detail. The examination of comprehensive error in laboratory and testing study in situ are described with satisfying results. The hollow inclusion strainmeter can measure three dimensional stresses of rock masses in a borehole and seems far better than the other kind of stress-measuring equipment in situ, especially in weak or broken rock masses.
