Strain Softening Model of Rock Material and Associated Finite Element Analysis

Abstract: Based on the stress-strain relationship and the properties of peak strength, residual strength, and brittleness of rock material, a perfect strain-softening model and related loading criteria are proposed by using the theory of elasto-plasticity. The physical concepts of this model are very clear with simple parameters, which is convenient for numerical analysis including finite element analysis.
