Calculation of consolidation deformation of saturated stratum under dynamic compaction loading

Abstract: The distribution characteristics of pore water pressure of saturated stratum are analyzed during dynamic compaction firstly. Based on a Theoretical solution of pore water pressure distribution of saturated stratum during dynamic compaction loading, a method for predicting the consolidation deformation of saturated stratum is proposed; and furthermore, the effects of soil parameters on consolidation deformations are analyzed. The calculation results show that there are obviously various magnitudes of consolidation deformation for soils with various permeability under dynamic compaction loading instantaneously; and furthermore, the maximum settlement lags behind the maximum surface contact stress. Besides, the various dynamic compaction loading-time curves have definite effects on the processes of consolidation, and have little effects on the total consolidation deformation during dynamic compaction loading.
