Abstract: The deep unloaded crack band is located in the high slope of left dam shoulder of Jinping hydopower electrical station; its formation cause and distribution seriously affects the stability and treatment cost. The ANSYS software has been adopted to make analysis of mechanical properties of the high slope by considering the faults and crack band and strata in detail with different loads combination. On the above base a simple mechanical model has been established for the clarification of its formation, the strange stress range is defined.

Key words: deep unloaded band, mechanical model, slope
