3-D FLAC application in stability analysis of ventilator chamber of highway tunnel

Abstract: Safety and stability are very important in designing and constructing complex ventilator chamber for its complex construction, large cross-section and little distance between chambers. It is necessary to adopt an effective and accurate numerical method and a calculation model to analyze underground tunnels. The advanced FLAC-3D method which based on 3-D explicit finite difference method, is adopted to calculate the ventilator chambers of a very long highway tunnel. The result indicates that the FLAC-3D method can be used to simulate three-dimensional mechanical behaviors of rock mass.
