Application of geosynthetics to asphalt pavement and its design

Abstract: With the growth of traffic volume and axial load, the requirements for pavement performances are higher day by day, thus many types of geosynthetics products used for road have been developed. The laboratory and field test achievements and the theoretically analytical investigations on improving performance of geosynthetic-reinforced asphalt pavement are evaluated. Those design methods of geosynthetics-reinforce asphalt pavement are analyzed. Furthermore, in accordance with the design procedure for asphalt overlay proposed by the Asphalt Institute in the United States of America, a design method for asphalt overlay with geosythentics interlayer on cracked pavement is introduced.
