Research on application of Kaiser effect of acoustic emission to measuring initial stress in rock mass

Abstract: The principle, method and techniques for measuring initial stresses in rock, by the Kaiser effect are described. And the crustal stress denotation of the underearth rock measuring point and the basic equation are derived; through making samples on 9 special directions on the beamed rock cores and doing acoustic emission experiment, the unilateral plus stress values on each direction are obtained. They are introduced into the crustal stress calculating formula, and then the values, azimuth angle and obliquity of the three principal stresses are obtained. The results of this experiment are capable of reference for engineering project.
