Load transfer mechanism of cement-flyash-gravel pile in soft clay by high strain testing

Abstract: Cement-flyash-gravel CFG, piles are found more and more application to soft clay ground improvement in expressway engineering in China. The load transfer mechanism and design calculation theory are conducted empirically in most cases, this resulting in the higher cost compared with other columns. This study focuses on the dynamic method in determining bearing capacity and shaft resistance. The testing site is typically selected in Lianyungang, where the soft marine clay is well known. Finally, the CFG pile design parameters are recommended.
