Rule of active limiting displacement and calculation method of active earth pressure

Abstract: Aiming at the rationality and limitation of the Rankine earth pressure theory to the characteristics of bracing for foundation pits and the specific soil conditions, the discussions are carried on. And the insufficiencies in the calculation method of bracing for foundation pits are pointed out. Taking the active limiting equilibrium condition of retained soil stress for example, the rule that the active limiting horizontal displacement along with the depth of retained soil accords with parabolic equation base on the earth deformation regions in foundation excavation is obtained. According to the need in the project, considering the effect of wall displacement, depth of excavation and embedded depth on the calculation method of the Rankine active earth pressure is proposed, under the small displacement condition.
