Deformation monitoring of bifurcation tunnel and countermeasures of construction technologies

Abstract: Bifurcation tunnel is one of the new types tunnels. With less unitary cost for joint bridge-tunnel projects, it is promising in communications construction in West China. A case study of Baziling diverging tunnel is given. The deformation monitoring system is described. The deformation characteristics under the given lining system and construction technology are analyzed. They are longitudinal deformation of the tunnel, construction response of single-arched segment and the influence of the interaction between the two working face. Finally, based on the deformation characteristics, the countermeasures of construction technologies are given. The study provides indispensable evidence for the design and construction of the bifurcation tunnel.
