Analysis of slope stability for underground vacant areas based on improved genetic algorithm

Abstract: Based on the non-circular failure surface analysis method for the calculation of integral stability of slope, an improved genetic algorithm is presented; it can freely search for the most dangerous failure surface of slope and corresponding minimum safety factor without supposing the geometric shape of the most dangerous failure surface. The analytical results of some slopes by the proposed method and the comparisons between the proposed method and other ones show that the proposed method is accurate,reliable and able to find out the global optimal solution. At the same time, the underground vacant areas are the primary factors, if the other conditions are invariable.
