Viscoplastic properties of clay and constitutive model

Abstract: Viscoplastic properties of clay were studied based on the test results of undisturbed and reconstituted specimens of three types of clays. To evaluate the viscoplastic properties, the strain rate was changed stepwise many times and creep tests were performed several times under otherwise monotonic loading on the different types of clay specimens. In addition, a nonlinear three-component model was proposed, which can simulate well the viscoplastic properties of clay.
