Study on compressive strength properties of light heterogeneous soil mixed with expanded polystyrene

Abstract: Based on laboratory experiments, the correlativity between light weight and high strength of the light heterogeneous soil mixed with polystyrene is studied. The authors demonstrate the relations between compressive strength and cement content, moisture content, density, age and failure strain. The compressive stress-strain behavior with different cement contents and densities is also analyzed. Finally,the authors suggest a strength formula and a relationship of stress-strain, which can be used as the scientific basis in-engineering applications
