Some Problems Related to the Strength of Loess at Gubaizui
Guo Jianyang
. 1985, 6 (1):  1-9.
Abstract ( 586 )   PDF (517KB) ( 250 )
The paper presents the results of the laboratory research about the shear strength and the structural strength of loess at Gubaizui. Gubaizui loess behaves like creep, and its long time shear strength is lower than its peak value(cq) during direct shear tests, the ratio between these value is about 0.51~0.75(when normal stress σ=0.1~0.5MPa). It is found that the structural strength of Gubaizui loess is very high, from the compression curves(one-dimensional consolidation test) it is obtained that strength is about 0.85~2.38MPa.

Hydrostatic Tests of Rocks to 4 Gpa
Feng Yixing.Qiu Yiping, Xu Zhihua ,Wang Wulin,
. 1985, 6 (1):  11-15.
Abstract ( 641 )   PDF (306KB) ( 329 )
A new cylinder-piston high hydrostatic testing equipment was briefly introduced. Testing procedure and measuring technique during the hydrostatic experiment were described. The properties of a marble、a silicarenite ,and a granite under hydrostatic tests were rhoroughly studied, A phase-transform in the marble under 1780 MPa was found. The effect of porosity, mineral composition ,and grain size on compressibility and residual deformation of rocks under hydrostatic pressure were examined.

An Axial Symmetric Nonlinear Finite Element Program for Computing Stress Wave Propagation and Its Application in Engineering
Huang Mingchang
. 1985, 6 (1):  37-45.
Abstract ( 537 )   PDF (472KB) ( 503 )
This Program adopts nonlinear variable-modular, uses uniaxial strain load-unload curve of rocks and dynamic tensile strength. In calculation, adopted load-unload criterion of stress wave propagation was to decide load-unload state of element and to adjusts and transfers internal stress for tensile failure element as well. The program uses incremental method to obtain displacements, velocity acceleration, stresses and strains for any instant. The results show that stresses and strains of calculation are well coincident with those from measurements.

The Behaviour of Loam and Its Differential Settlement
Pan Peicai, Yang Muhuai, Zhang Wenmin
. 1985, 6 (1):  47-57.
Abstract ( 668 )   PDF (1225KB) ( 455 )
This paper deals with the relation between loam behaviour and its differential settlements. Experimental results obtained from the foundation soil of a phosphtic fertilizer plant show that factors influencing differential settlements are: (1) Comparatively large compressibility of foundation soil; (2) Anisotropic strength of foundation soil; (3) Overloading and repeat loading effects; (4) Fluctuation of underground water table; (5) Rheologic property of foundation soil.

The Transitive Loss of Pressure Cell With Secondary Membranes
Pan Yaoxiang
. 1985, 6 (1):  59-66.
Abstract ( 543 )   PDF (406KB) ( 284 )
Since two membranes and a hydraulic cavity are introduced, the pressure cell with secondary membrane has a transitive loss. The paper analyses transitive loss theoretically and gives a unified formula in the following cases: (1) Under uncompressible liquid; (2) Under compressible liquid; (3) With air bubbles in force transfer cavities. A few calculations for circular membranes are made. The relation between allowable air bubble ratio and allowable transitive loss is also given in this paper. Both theoretical and experimental results prove that the high air bubble ratio is one of the bad linearity at low pressure.

Experimental Study for the Physical Mechanical Behaviour of Mud Stone In One Open Pit Coal Mine
Yuan Jianxin, Peng Guangzhong
. 1985, 6 (1):  67-84.
Abstract ( 555 )   PDF (2129KB) ( 191 )
This paper presents the experimental study for the physical-mechanical-chemical behaviour of the mud stone for one open pit coal mine. The experimental results indicate that large amount water affinity and colloid material are contained in the mud stone. It is find out that the mud stone under investigation has loose structure and high degree of saturation. The relation between the number of dynamical loading cycle and the strength, deformation of mud stone. It is find out that the mud stone under investigation has loose structure and high degree of saturation. The relation between the number of dynamical loading cycle and the strength, deformation of mud stone is obtained through the dynamical triaxiali shear tests. The failure mechanism under different confine stress and the relation between the moisture content and the strength of the mud stone are also investigated. Finally, the displacement under wheel points and the deformation and non-homogenous road base under different loading by finit element analysis are given in this paper.

Wang Gaizheng, Cheng Leping, Xie Qing ,Luo Xiao, Yang Yanjun ,LiBaohua, Chai Zhongli, Liu Ke
. 1985, 6 (1):  85-92.
Abstract ( 451 )   PDF (856KB) ( 446 )
The system consists of SYC rock acoustical measurement instrument, microcomputer and single board computer. It is a building block system used in both laboratory and field testing to measure rock acoustical data. In this paper the main performances, the fundamental configuration, the interface technique and software design methods are presented, and measurement result analysis is made. An idea was proposed of the automatic acquisition and processing of test data by means of micro-computer control over the test device.

Repid Measuring of Particle Velocity for Foundations and Buildings under Engineering Vibration
Sheng Guishan
. 1985, 6 (1):  93-96.
Abstract ( 542 )   PDF (200KB) ( 267 )
A method is presented in this paper, by which particle velocities can be measured rapidly without use of amplifier. It has advantages over others in a small quantity of apparatuses used, the simplicity, rapidity and reliability of the measurement. The results are satisfactory when the method was employed in a plant as well as in other factories and mines later to measure the particle velocities of the foundation and buildings under vibration.
