Abstract: A new ground improvement technology, cement fly-ash steel-slag pile, is presented. By piling up steel blanks to simulate the bearing properties of CFS pile composite foundation during service, some bearing characteristics including the settlement of foundation base, the deep horizontal displacement and the distribution of vertical additional stress of composite foundation, the horizontal displacement and the variable rhythm of lateral additional stress of adjacent excavated hole pile etc., are studied. The interaction mechanism of CFS pile composite foundation-adjacent excavated hole pile during superficial surcharge is also discussed. In addition, the environmental effect due to the construction of CFS pile is studied; the variable rhythm of lateral additional stress of foundation with distance and depth and the land upheaval value in A and B region are obtained.

Key words: cement fly-ash steel-slag pile, composite foundation, field surcharge test, bearing characteristics, environmental effect
