Experimental study on vertical pullout capacity of cast-in-site pile in permafrost region

Abstract: In order to research the frost heaving resistance and deformation characters of pile foundations for bridges and buildings in permafrost region, based on the test projects of Qinghai-Tibet railway, the uplift tests of the cast-in-site bored pedestal pile and column bored pile have been studied in high-temperature fine-grained permafrost of Qinghai-Tibet plateau. The test results of uplift resistance and deformation are gained for the two different types of piles under the same geological condition and temperature. In addition, according to the ground temperature data, the back frost time of pile-soil system and the characters of ground temperature change are given. The investigation could be used as references in the design and construction of frost pulling-resistant pile under the similar conditions.
