Yang Wei; Ge Xiurun
null    1989, 10 (1): 1-11.
Abstract182)      PDF(pc) (553KB)(228)       Save
In this paper, the infinite boundary elements developed previously in two and three dimensional problems are reviewed, and the shortcoming and irrationality of interpolation functions of those elements are pointed out. A new interpolation function of infinite boundary element is proposed. The divergent integration on infinite element is also discussed in this paper.

The Ground Pressure Control for Sublevel Caving
Yu Guojin
null    1989, 10 (1): 31-41.
Abstract214)      PDF(pc) (624KB)(265)       Save
The sublevel caving method is used in No.4 ore body of Fusan Iron Mine, and large scale stratum movement took place there for four times in the past a few years. Many kinds of instruments, such as AE monitor, convergence meter, etc., are used to study the law of stratum pressure appearance. On this basis, oblique stopping lines and proper support system are adopted, so that the stratum movement is controlled, and continuous production of iron ore is realized with an extraction rate of eighty two per cent.

Application of Numerical Method to Soil Mechanics
Gao Dazhao; Cao Mingbao
null    1989, 10 (2): 22-30.
Abstract138)      PDF(pc) (622KB)(355)       Save
This is a summing-up report based on 48 papers on the applications of numerical method to soil mechanics. Recently, there is a new development of coupling of finite element with other numerical ones in soil mechanics. The dynamic numerical analyses have found further application to nonlinear stress-strain relationship, effective stress, and three dimensional problems. The suitable contact element or conjunct element could be used for contact conditions in finite element calculation. It is an important direction to combine usual numerical method with probabilistic method, which has been used in evaluations of consolidation effect, slope stability, dam, seepage, deformation calculation, interaction, and the performance analyses of pole and foundation.

null    1989, 10 (2): 41-46.
Abstract164)      PDF(pc) (397KB)(207)       Save
In this paper, the basic idea of Roberts algorithm is presented, and a new improved algorithm is proposed. The new algorithm is faster, simpler and more applicable to many problems than Roberts’ one. Based on this new algorithm, program TDFEP is developed, which is executable on microcomputer. With this program, a three dimensional object can be viewed from any direction in the space, and 3D-perspectives are formed. 3D-perspectives take an important role to check original data of finite element calculation, which can improve the efficiency of the whole calculation process obviously.

Abstract158)      PDF(pc) (694KB)(326)       Save
The nonlinearty of rock deformation results mainly from closing, opening, and propagation of microcracks or microviods inside rock. Taking the influence of microdefects into account, a new constitutive relationship of damage is developed, and applied to different models of rock with different porosities. The theoretical curves consist with the experimental ones.

Development of RDT-10000 Type Rock High Pressure Dynamic Triaxial Machine
Wang Wuling; Liu Yuanhwei; Lu Yilu ;Chang Jie;
null    1989, 10 (2): 69-82.
Abstract187)      PDF(pc) (802KB)(266)       Save
A rock dynamic triaxial machine with high pressure is developed for the needs of Defence Engineering, Explosive Engineering, Scismic Engineering, and the work related to high pressure and high rate condition. The machine can be used to study the stress-strain relation of rock or other materials under dynamic and static triaxial condition. High pressure and fast loading rate are the features of this experimental machine. Rock testing study can be done with this machine under the conditions of confined pressure from zero to 1000 MPa and axial pressure from zero to 4000 MPa. The loading time from zero to peak takes only 4-9 ms. The strain rate can reach 10° 1/sec. The main parts of the triaxial experimental machine, the principles of dynamic loading, and the measurement under high liquid pressure, etc. are described in this paper. In addition, the test results of the stress-strain relation, strength, deformation, the effects of strain rate, etc. obtained with this machine are presented, too. This machine fills in the gaps of dynamic high pressure machine in China.

The Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics was founded in 1958, which is one of the research bodies under the Academia Sinica (National Academy of sciences). Four divisions (of Rock and Soil Dynamics, Rock Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Electronic and Mechanical Design ) and one factory have been set up in the light of the needs for research tasks. In addition to these units, there is an information research division and a computer department. More than 300 staff are now working in this Institute, about half of the employees are technical staff and scientists. Since founded thirty years ago, more than 220 items of major research topics has been Completed by our Institute. Of which 210 items of major scientific and technical contributions have been obtained. Among them 8 won the national prize, containing 1 piece of national invention prize and 36 won the significant result prize issued by Academia Sinica, HuBei province or ministries. Many results approach or come up to advanced level of the world and much more results reach the national leading level. In order to promote the academic activity and its engineering services, the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics takes pleasure inviting international cooperation in the field of geotechnical engineering science.
