Dynamic response of a reinforced concrete beam on a viscoelastic foundation under low velocity impact

Abstract: The dynamic plastic response of a simply supported RC beam on a semi-infinite viscoelastic Winkler foundation under low velocity impact is investigated. In calculating RC beam subjected to low velocity impact, the effect of local damage must be taken into account when the integral bending deformation is analyzed. The relationship between local damage and integral bending deformation is established; and the calculating formulae for the elastoplastic impact force and dynamic transverse deflection of the beam have been deduced for low velocity impact at the midpoint of beam.
