Abstract: After comparing the transient heat conduction equation and the pore pressure generation-dissipation equation, this thesis presented a simplified method, basing on which we could apply the thermal-structure coupled field module of ANSYS to analyze the dynamic response of earth-rock dam conveniently. This method is similar to TT method, though, it is more appropriate to call it an improved TT method, because in this method the mechanical parameters of the soil materials are adjusted continually to simulate the coupled effect between the distortion of the soil skeleton and the dissipation of the pore pressure, which leads to a more precise simulation of the real condition. Finally, this approach was applied to calculate the three-dimensional seismic response of the earth core rockfill dam of Yunlong reservoir; and some valuable conclusions were drawn.

Key words: ANSYS, seismic response, improved TT method, earth core rockfill dam, effective stress principle
