Development and verification of bounding surface model in FLAC3D

Abstract: By using the further developing platform UDM, a simplified bounding surface model based on modified Cam-clay model is developed in the FLAC3D program in the VC++ debug environment. The bounding surface model’s basic principles are introduced, and the key technologies and the concrete methods of implementation are explained. Numerical simulations of loading and unloading triaxial tests, undrained triaxial shear tests are performed to study the difference between bounding surface model and modified Cam-clay model. The computed results show that the newly developed bounding surface model is reasonable and reliable, and has great advantages compared with modified Cam-clay model.
