Fluid-structure coupling analysis of water-conveyance tunnel subjected to seismic excitation

Abstract: The aseismic performance of shallow buried water-conveyance tunnel in soft soil area is becoming more and more important with the development of large-scale water conveyance projects. In the big diameter water-conveyance tunnel, on account of large mass and sloshing of inner water under the vibration, which will bring water-tunnel lining interaction. All the above will affect dynamic response of tunnel lining. Aiming at this problem, the paper studies water-conveyance tunnel by dynamic fluid-structure coupling method. Especially, inner water is modeled by potential-based liquid element. The numerical results show that the inner water has great effects on the frequencies and dynamic response of water-conveyance tunnels.
